Maternity- FAQ

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO SCHEDULE A MATERNITY SESSION?

The best time to shoot a maternity session is between 29 weeks and 36 weeks of pregnancy. With that said, the time to schedule is a month or two before that time. Already pregnant and past that window? No problem, we will work with you to fit you in the schedule.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY MATERNITY SESSION?

Don't worry! We have you covered, we have an entire guide to prepare you for your session. In addition, we will have a pre-consultation by phone (or in person) prior to your session where we will go over details including wardrobe, so you can be reassured and completely prepared for a great session.

CAN MY FAMILY BE PHOTOGRAPHED WITH ME?

Of course, these always make for beautiful images and treasured memories of an momentous event in your lives. For family shots, I always suggest mom to choose an outfit she feels confident and beautiful in and then have everyones outfit coordinate from there.

Newborns-FAQ

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO SCHEDULE MY NEWBORN SESSION?

The best time to schedule is when you are pregnant! We will reserve a spot on our calendar and since babies often have their own schedule when it comes to their arrival, you will contact us when the joyous event arrives. The best time time to photograph baby is between 6-10 days of birth. During this time babies are very sleepy and can get in those "curly" poses we all love. Already given birth and looking for newborn photos? Give us a call and we will do our best to fit you in. Please note we will not photograph babies within 6 days of a circumcision.

WHAT SHOULD BABY WEAR TO THE SESSION?

Babies should arrive in a outfit that zips or snaps, we ask that baby not wear anything that slips over the head so as not to disturb the baby. We want baby to remain as calm and comfortable as possible. We have wraps, hats, and headbands as well as other props to stylize the session, however we encourage you to bring a special blanket or article of clothing to add meaning to your session.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY NEWBORN SESSION?

We will ask that you come to the session with the baby well rested and ready to feed on arrival. We will ask you to undress and swaddle baby before the feeding so that once the baby falls asleep we don't disturb him/her by dressing them. We will take breaks as needed for baby and ask that you be available to feed on demand so we can ensure the most successful session.

CAN I BE PHOTOGRAPHED WITH THE BABY?

Absolutely! There is nothing better than capturing the profound love of new parents. For these images, skin on skin typically photographs best, however we ask that you bring a shirt of a neutral color to possibly serve as a backdrop for baby. Our "Royal"  newborn session includes parent and sibling poses.

WHAT KIND OF INVESTMENT DO MOST MAKE?

Most of the clients invest anywhere from $700-$2500 on their custom portraiture. However, each client's needs are unique, some spend more, some spend less. Those who choose the Petite Session usually invest around $600.
